Why is dragon age: origins basically a fantasy-based clone of kotor?

Are the developers even trying to be innovative? Why is dragon age: origins basically a fantasy-based clone of kotor?
I think they used similar party RPG game play because it was so successful in KoTOR.Why is dragon age: origins basically a fantasy-based clone of kotor?
Instead of comparing it to KoTOR, i would say it's a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate I and II. Those games are widely praised and are much more similar to Dragon Age. And of course they're being creative, they use a completely different engine, system, skills, enemies, and story. They're completely different games. Why is dragon age: origins basically a fantasy-based clone of kotor?
Well, BioWare did make both games, so...

But Dragon Age is FAR from KOTOR. KOTOR had turn-based combat and was built around a sci-fi world that already existed. The entire Dragon Age world is a new one, and it has real-time combat. If you think that the games are still too similar, then you probably just dont like the Top-Down RPG genre, which is a large genre with a lot of games in that all look and play pretty much like KOTOR or Dragon Age
